Safe Place!

Wednesday night I spent the evening with a bunch of folks from the Northside. A cookout was prepared by a few young students from the neighborhood.

The food was delicious, but the company was even better!

One of the surprises of the evening was when I found out that Raven (a summer intern for Embrace Richmond) who lives in the neighborhood and goes to CNU, actually knew one of my daughters!

My daughter Lucy or Caroline (she can't decide which name she likes best) just finished her first year at Christopher Newport University!

What are the chances? Is it a coincidence or God just revealing himself AGAIN!

The evening was a blast and I was inspired by hearing the desires of the younger generation in the neighborhood.

The common thread in the conversation was the need for a safe place for young men and women to go and just hang out.

They can't even feel safe at home!

The streets aren't safe!

Just the other day a young adult was killed just right up the road.

If we don't invest in our youth today, then there is a strong possibility they will be on the streets tomorrow!

The call to action is to come together and create a safe place for them to go, just be themselves and be LOVED!
