Are you willing to GO?

This past Monday I visited Good Samaritan Ministries on Hull St in the Southside.

I was invited by a new found friend, Bob who serves on the board.

It was a great time of sharing stories of what God has done in our lives!

We proceeded through the Northside down my prayer drive to Chamberlayne Ave and all the way across the river and onto Hull St.

As we were driving, Bob shared of his upbringing in a Church on Chamberlayne Ave that we passed by.

I couldn't help but dream of what God was up to!

When we got to GSM, I met the founder and director Pastor Mike. He started by sharing his testimony and how the ministry got started. Here was a man that spent years on the streets abusing alcohol and shooting up drugs.

He now runs a ministry that has overseen thousands of men and women who have overcome addictions and tragedies through the love of Christ!

I was so impressed with how this ministry has grown over the years.

There is a Discipleship Program, Thrift Store, Auto Shop, Works Program, Church and even a Christian School for the children that live nearby!

It is so exciting to see how God has used this man!

It gives me great encouragement to see what God can do through an individual who is willing to listen to God and then GO!

I am reminded of the story in Luke where Christ sends out the disciples to share the Gospel.

Luke 9:1-5 NLT

1 One day Jesus called together his twelve disciplest and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases.2 Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.3 “Take nothing for your journey,” he instructed them. “Don’t take a walking stick, a traveler’s bag, food, money,t or even a change of clothes.4 Wherever you go, stay in the same house until you leave town.5 And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.”

When Pastor Mike started this ministry he had nothing! He just went!
